We work collaboratively with the Department of Health, Division of HIV/AIDS Surveillance for the study “Puerto Rico National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System” (PR-NHBS). This is a study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and disease prevention (CDC). Since 2003, the CDC has conducted a cross-sectional survey of behaviors of possible exposure to HIV in three population groups (i) Men who have sex with men (MSM) (ii) Persons who inject drugs (PWID) (iii) Heterosexuals at increased risk. NHBS is implemented by state and local health departments in the statistical metropolitan areas with the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS cases in the United States.
